RETURN TO 711 WATCH
January 10th, 2005 - The USS San Francisco moors in Guam.
I would like to add a comment: It is going around on the internet that
sailors from the USS City of Corpus Cristi (SSN 705) helped shut down
the reactor plant on the 711's return to port. This is incorrect. SSN
705 sailors did indeed offer to help, but the offer was declined by the
San Francisco's Engineering Officer. Corpus Cristi sailors did assume
all watches on January 13th, so that all San Francisco's sailors could
attend a memorial service for MM2 Ashley.
